A great book to get you out of your slump. I faced a bad reading slump of nearly 3 months, and all I needed was a slow-paced, sweet romance. And TCBBS delivered it to the T. The title gave me warmth, and the story lived up to it. Hazel accompanied me in my slump, and Noah, just like this book, helped me get out of it.
Set in a small town, this book gives you the cozy, nosy-neighbour feel, with beaches, an apple farm, and blueberry charms. Laurie Gilmore has beautifully blended a hint of suspense and a fun treasure hunt in her small-town romance. Which, according to me, helped the book not be slow-paced.

Characters
Hazel has been in this town and worked at this bookstore since she can remember. She has had a predictable life, a safe life if you asked her. She didn’t go on adventures like her friends, she didn’t share new tea in her life (cause there were none!), and she never believed the hot fisherman could ever be interested in her (something her friends believed and would have jumped on the opportunity if they were her).
But suddenly, having nothing to share with her friends started bothering Hazel. A wish for little adventures took seed in her heart; only a little water and sunshine were needed.
Noah came into her life as sunshine; he encouraged her and motivated her to embark on her journey. He loved an adventure. Being out and about was his thing. Uncertain in himself, but he wanted to make all her dreams come true.
He really liked her, but always thought a girl like her was out of his reach, so when the opportunity was thrown on his lap on a f(w)ine night, he wasn’t an idiot to refuse.

A small town where everyone knows everyone makes life predictable, but put a few hints of mystery in the mix and you’ll have an adventure. And may it be small or big, it will make your day.
A clue came knocking on Hazel’s door one day, acting as water to her seed of something more, sprouting her wings. And now, just a predictable bookstore has something more to offer, something more for her to look forward to. A mystery to solve, small adventures to take, or just go down memory lane.
But a journey where her sunshine helped her grow into a beautiful sapling, with her throughout.
Let’s Talk Spice!
The book has minor levels of spice, where the deeds are open door, but less intense. Also, to the public who don’t like reading spicy content, though this book is not clean or closed-door, all the scenes are easily skippable.
TCBBS – Takeaway
I personally loved the book. If you love slow-paced (not slow burn) books, with a cozy vibe, or want to get out of a slump, this is the book. I loved the way it was written and how it wasn’t ever rushed or too slow to lose interest.
The characters were also portrayed in a very realistic way, which makes it easier to relate to them and immerse in their world (at least for me). So, please give it a try.
