Haunting Adeline: The Book That Blends Horror with Obsession

Adeline, a renowned author, moves into her grandmother’s childhood home, which she has inherited. A house that is probably haunted, but fear not, that’s not what is haunting her. It’s her personal ghost, or should I say Shadow.

Zade, a handsome genius and a passionate lover. Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that he might be a little unhinged. He saw Adeline at her book signing event and vowed to be her shadow forever, keeping an eye on her from the dark, through the windows.

But you see, Zade’s unhinged won’t just let him fade away in the background – she had to know of the new addition in her personal life, one can also say, body. So, he started visiting her, late at night, like a ghost, leaving flowers for her – red roses – and drinking from her grandfather’s favourite home-made whisky.

She did not want another ghost in her life, but somewhere between digging up secrets and old family history with the ghost, she found herself being drawn to him and his beautiful heterochromatic eyes.

The Vibe

Haunting Adeline is a dark romance with a touch of horror and stalking elements. Though I loved the book, it does include violence, fights, and blood. Zade is completely unhinged, a personality well fit for his professional life, but maybe not his love life.

The book gives off very ‘she is mine’ and ‘touch her and die’ moments, and the latter need not even be in a suggestive touch. Zade is a dangerously brilliant man, running shady operations with surprisingly noble intentions.  He is the hunter who likes to keep an eye on his prey, to grab it as soon as it gets distracted.

In our case, unfortunately or fortunately, the pray is Adeline. An amazing writer who loves her grandmother’s house, which she inherited, along with all its spookiness and probable ghost roommate. And the house becomes even more hauntingly dear when her personal stalker joins its ghostly roster.

Let’s talk spice

Wild and unhinged moments fill the book. Some open-door smut that does not disappoint in the slightest. Expect possessive energy, control-play, and consensual non-consent themes—if that’s your thing, you’re in for a ride.

The attraction between them is sizzling hot, which creates fireworks on contact, so be prepared to be burned.

If you love horror, dark romance, and completely unhinged ML with slightly unhinged FL, this is the book for you. I love the book and would recommend it a hundred percent, just be sure to check the trigger warnings, the book is full of them.
