Don’t Date Your Brother’s Best Friend (DDYBB) by Cami Checketts

DDYBB by Cami is exactly as the name suggests. Ella Strong has been in love with her brother’s best friend since she can remember. Date anyone, however she wants, no one holds a candle to the man of her dreams. And just like those dreams, he is out of her reach.

Trey Nelson loves his best friend’s family as his own. Precisely why he has only ever seen Ella as his baby sister. One he makes fun of, teases her brother with, and someone to protect. She has never been anything more or less.

But things changed for Trey, Ella came home for a long holiday at the same time as him. After understanding that she would be nothing more to him ever, four years ago. This was their first meet. She is smitten by him again. Like always, like nothing’s ever changed. But it did, this time, someone else got smitten. Someone else fell head over heels.

And as much as she wants to grab this opportunity with both her hands wide open, she needs to protect her fragile heart. I mean, it’s not easy to hand yourself over to a Playboy, who you’ve loved for practically since you knew what love meant.

But again, what if he says he is as serious as he’ll ever be about a woman? That he sees and wants a future.

DDYBB – Blurb

A lifelong crush revealed. Will he make her dreams come true or shatter her heart?

Ella Strong has compared every man to the irresistible Trey Nelson from middle school on up. When Trey comes home to visit his best friend and her brother, he not only notices her but pursues her … hard. Is this only a whirlwind romance on his way to something better or can she trust the love she sees in his blue eyes?

Trey Nelson has explored the world, enjoying each experience but never finding the right one to settle down with. When he sees his childhood friend he feels like he’s been smacked in the head by a two-by-four. He falls hard and fast but gaining her trust, and her brother’s blessing, are going to be a different story.

Characters

Ella loves her family and would do anything for their happiness, which includes abiding by their concerns. A free-spirited spitfire, Ella has always been able to put people in their place. But now these same traits have attracted some’s undivided attention.

Trey travels for a living doing bike stunts. He is like a celebrity, popular and in demand. Throughout his journey, he has seen and experienced a lot. But nothing’s satisfied him enough to want to settle down. But he does now, Ella makes him want to.

And how can we forget about the brother? Once left heartbroken by the one he loved, he is scared of his sister going through the same. Though he loves and trusts his best friend, he also knows that he has never been serious about a girl before. Not wanting his sister to be just another stop in his journey, he warns her not to date his best friend.

DDYBB – Vibe

This short book is filled with familial love. The bond between siblings, the encompassing love of parents for their children, and, of course, the love and understanding between best friends.

This book emphasizes the importance of family and teaches you the value of spending time with your loved ones. And if you don’t have time, then make the same. Filled with sweet moments with Ella’s 10-year-old brother (Which I loved!), Cami has given this book a turn of warmth and delight.

You can also see the effort Trey puts in, to prove his love. And Ella’s efforts to cherish and accept something she thought could never be hers.

Let’s talk Spice!

There is none! Whatsoever. Nada! Zero on spice, high on sweet moments, and voila, the book is complete.

This is a very short book, where the whole space was taken by the main plot, making them end up together.

DDYBB – Takeaway

If you are in the mood for a short story on a brother’s best friend with the whole feeling, you should give this book a try. Though it lacks smut, it is not completely barren.

This is a sweet book to get you out of a slump or something.
