This Privacy Policy explains how Vidhee Kasture (InkedWithIntrigue) operates and protects information in connection with InkedWithIntrigue, a fiction book-review website. Throughout this policy, the site and its operator are referred to as InkedWithIntrigue.

This is a working draft prepared from the site features identified during review. It should be checked against the final live configuration before publication, particularly if a newsletter provider, advertising service, affiliate programme, analytics tool, or embedded third-party service is added.

2. What information InkedWithIntrigue may collect

Information you provide directly

When you use the Reach Out contact form, InkedWithIntrigue may collect the information you submit, including your email address and message. You should avoid including sensitive personal information in a message unless it is necessary for your request.

If you voluntarily subscribe to site updates or another email communication, InkedWithIntrigue may collect your email address and subscription preferences so that the requested communication can be provided. The subscription provider must be named here before the subscription feature is activated or before this policy is published as final.

If comments are enabled and you submit a comment, InkedWithIntrigue may collect the name, email address, website address, comment text, IP address, and other information processed by WordPress or anti-spam tools in connection with that comment. Comment text and the name you choose to display may be publicly visible.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website, technical and usage information may be collected automatically by WordPress, the hosting environment, security and caching tools, and Jetpack Stats. Depending on the configuration of those services, this may include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, date and time of access, and information about how you interact with the website.

This information is used for security, website operation, troubleshooting, audience measurement, and improvement of the site. InkedWithIntrigue does not use this information to identify you personally unless identification is reasonably necessary to respond to a request, protect the site, comply with law, or investigate abuse.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. They may be used to:

• keep WordPress and forms functioning;
• remember preferences and maintain security;

• measure visits and usage through Jetpack Stats; and

4. Jetpack Stats and measurement

Jetpack Stats is enabled on the website. It may process technical and usage information, such as page views, referrers, device or browser information, and other data used to measure site traffic and improve the website. Jetpack is provided by Automattic and may process information on servers outside India. Please review Automattic’s Privacy Policy for more information about its processing practices.

InkedWithIntrigue will not describe any additional analytics service as active unless that service is actually installed and configured. If Google Analytics or another analytics platform is added, this policy will be updated before or when that service is activated.

5. How information is used

InkedWithIntrigue may use information to:

• respond to contact requests and questions;
• provide requested site updates or email communications;
• publish and moderate comments where comments are enabled;
• operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the website;
• understand general readership and improve content and navigation;
• prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
• comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests; and
• protect the rights, safety, and property of InkedWithIntrigue, visitors, and others.

InkedWithIntrigue does not sell personal information. Personal information is not used for unrelated marketing unless the visitor requests or consents to that communication, or applicable law permits it.

6. Contact forms and email communications

Messages sent through the Reach Out form are used to respond to the sender and manage the request. Form submissions may be processed by WordPress, WPForms, the hosting provider, email services, security tools, and other service providers necessary to operate the form and deliver the message.

If InkedWithIntrigue sends email updates, each marketing or subscription email should provide an appropriate way to unsubscribe. You may also contact InkedWithIntrigue at inkeddwithintrigue@gmail.com to ask that your subscription or email communications be stopped.

7. Goodreads and other external links

Book reviews may contain links to Goodreads and, in the future, other third-party websites. These links are provided for reader convenience and do not give InkedWithIntrigue control over the third party’s website, cookies, tracking, content, or privacy practices. You should review the privacy policy of each external website you visit.

Goodreads links currently used on the site are ordinary external links. InkedWithIntrigue does not currently claim an affiliate commission from those links.

8. Future advertising and Google AdSense

At the time of this draft, InkedWithIntrigue is preparing for Google AdSense and is not stating that Google ads are currently being served on the website. If AdSense is approved and activated, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device information, IP address, and information about visits or interactions to serve, measure, limit, and personalize advertising, subject to the applicable Google settings and visitor choices.

Before advertising is activated, this policy and the site’s consent process will be updated to identify the advertising technology actually used. Visitors may be able to manage advertising personalization through Google’s Ads Settings and may review Google’s information about how it uses data when partners use its services at Google’s Privacy & Terms.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, InkedWithIntrigue will use an appropriate consent mechanism and configure advertising in accordance with Google’s then-current consent requirements before serving advertising that requires consent. Visitors can change or withdraw choices through the consent mechanism where that functionality is available.

9. Future affiliate links

InkedWithIntrigue does not currently use an active affiliate programme. If Amazon or another retailer is added in the future, links that may generate a commission will be clearly identified near the relevant link or recommendation, and this policy or a separate disclosure page will be updated to explain the arrangement.

An affiliate link does not change the price paid by the reader unless the retailer’s terms state otherwise. Retailers independently process purchases, payment information, delivery details, and their own cookies under their own policies. InkedWithIntrigue does not receive a reader’s payment information from a retailer merely because a reader follows a link.

10. How information is shared

InkedWithIntrigue may share information only as reasonably necessary with:

• hosting, WordPress, caching, security, form, email, and website-support providers;
• Jetpack Stats and other measurement services actually enabled on the site;
• advertising or affiliate providers only after those services are activated and this policy is updated;
• professional advisers or authorities where disclosure is required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the website; and
• a successor or service provider involved in a change to the operation of the website, where permitted by law.

Service providers may process information outside India. InkedWithIntrigue expects service providers to use information only for the services they provide and to apply reasonable safeguards, subject to their own terms and policies.

11. Retention

InkedWithIntrigue keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain business and security records, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal obligations.

Contact-form messages may be retained for as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence. Comment information may remain while the comment is published or while it is needed for moderation, security, or legal reasons. Subscription information may be retained while the subscription remains active and for a reasonable period after an unsubscribe request to maintain suppression records.

The exact retention period may vary depending on the service provider and the nature of the record. InkedWithIntrigue should add specific periods after confirming its hosting, form, email, and Jetpack settings.

12. Security

InkedWithIntrigue uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Your requests and choices

You may contact InkedWithIntrigue to ask about personal information submitted through the website, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where appropriate, or withdraw from email communications.

InkedWithIntrigue may need to verify a request before acting and may retain information where necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or the establishment or defence of a claim.

The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children. InkedWithIntrigue does not knowingly request personal information from children for unnecessary purposes.
